What the Overmind is for.
The Overmind is a heavy fire-support hovercraft and drone carrier. Stardock lists its role as “Midline,” recruited from the Apex Replicator, and describes it as deploying drone swarms.
It is not presented as a frontline brawler. Its value comes from what the drones do for the army and from the fire support it adds while the Reapers and Hatchlings hold the line. No health or weapon values are published.
How to use it
- Position the Overmind behind a Reaper line so it can sustain drone pressure without being the first unit focused.
- Use its drone deployment to keep an engagement active while shield regeneration resets on a different group of units.
- Build the army’s screen first. A drone carrier with no front line is a target, not a strategy.
How to answer it
- Reach the Overmind with long-range fire or a flank; forcing it to move can disrupt its support role.
- Use area damage against the drones it deploys, then pressure the carrier while its screen is depleted.
- Threaten multiple axes so the Substrate cannot keep the Overmind behind every fight at once.
What we still do not know
