Ashes of the Singularity II · Atlas

Maps & environments

Four named prebuilt battlefields, two confirmed environments and a procedural map system that makes scouting part of every match.

The atlas

A continent is the unit of terrain.

Ashes II maps are divided into regions and built for armies, not lanes. Even a “small” map is large by the standards of many RTS games. The map is where region connectivity, production placement and terrain meet.

Stardock has confirmed prebuilt maps and procedural generation for skirmish and multiplayer. The prebuilt maps provide a known competitive reference; procedural maps ask you to read terrain rather than memorise a layout. A user-friendly map editor is not planned for launch.

The named maps below come from the official demo overview and a developer video. We have not invented layouts, resource positions or player counts that have not been published.

Confirmed battlefields

What we can name.

Player counts and descriptions are from official demo and developer material. Map screenshots here are representative official imagery, not top-down layout references.

Demo map Small Arctic Siberia

Twin Lakes

A compact arctic map used in the February 2026 demo. The official demo overview describes it as the fast, intense option for smaller head-to-head or two-versus-two games.

Players · 2–4 players (1v1 / 2v2) · Day

Field note: Small maps compress the reinforcement problem: production travel times are shorter and a lost army can be replaced sooner. Treat scouting as a way to find the next angle, not just the enemy base.

Demo map Medium Desert

Crossroads (Night)

The medium map from the Next Fest demo, designed for two-versus-two and three-versus-three play. Stardock used it to showcase the desert environment at night.

Players · 2–6 players (2v2 / 3v3) · Night

Field note: A medium map is often where a team’s first strategic disagreement appears: one player wants the contested middle, another wants to secure a flank. Decide the team’s priority before the first major commitment.

Demo map Large Desert

Scorched Divide

The large daytime desert map from the demo, featuring jagged canyons and narrow paths. Stardock describes it as the ideal map for four-versus-four games and a brutal option for eight-player free-for-all.

Players · 2–8 players (4v4 / 8-player FFA) · Day

Field note: Cliffs and narrow approaches disrupt quick repositioning. An army that wins in one canyon may need a long time to reach another front. Plan reinforcement routes and communication before the first push.

Shown in development Small Lunar caldera

Ashfall Caldera

A small lunar skirmish map built around brutal terrain. The official October 2026 video describes trenches and gullies that funnel armies into a labyrinth and create defensive choke points.

Players · Skirmish (player count not announced) · Not specified

Field note: The map is explicitly designed to punish a straightforward armoured push through a narrow pass. Bring tools for the job: indirect fire, a second approach, or a plan to force the defender out of the choke.

Procedural generation

A new map changes the correct opening.

Stardock supports procedural map generation for offline skirmish and online multiplayer. That means a build order copied from a fixed map may not fit the terrain you actually receive. Resource placement, approach routes and chokepoints can all alter the value of a region.

The response is a scouting routine: find the nearest contested region, identify the first viable attack route, and check whether a rich expansion can be reached without a long exposed link. Prebuilt maps still matter for competitive players, but procedural maps make adaptation a core skill.

Environments

Two worlds shown, more expected.

The developers have used Europa and Artemis to demonstrate the environmental range. These are confirmed environments, not necessarily standalone launch maps.

Europa

A frozen moon environment featured in the developers’ May 2026 livestream alongside Artemis. Europa’s ice and cold create a distinct visual setting; specific terrain rules have not been published.

Artemis

The volcanic counterpart to Europa in the same May 2026 developer livestream. Lava, rock and heat dominate the presentation, matching the all-terrain-warfare language in the release messaging.
